Match 22: Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Mumbai Indians

 

Mumbai Indians 186 for 5 (Kishan 58(↑37.06%), Surya 43(↑9.82%)) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 185 for 6 (Venkatesh 104, Suyash 2/27) by 5 wickets.

 

Kolkata got off to a stuttering start while batting first. The openers fell inside the powerplay, but Venkatesh Iyer stood tall at one end. In the first 11 overs of the innings, none of the batters apart from Venkatesh had hit a boundary. He brought up his maiden IPL ton and scored 104 off 51. Andre Russell’s(↓2.83%) finishing touch of 21*(11) helped KKR reach 185 for 6 in 20 overs.

The chase started with a flying opening partnership of 65 runs. An injured Rohit Sharma(↓0.40%) scored 20 off 13, while Ishan Kishan(↑37.06%) got 58 off 25. The stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav(↑9.82%), opted to bat at #3, and the move certainly helped him. His calculated innings of 43 off 25 put Mumbai in the driving seat. Tim David hit 24* off 13 to finish the match with 14 balls to spare.

 

Match 23: Gujarat Titans vs. Rajasthan Royals

 

Rajasthan Royals 179 for 7 (Sanju 60(↑29.90%), Hetmyer 56) beat Gujarat Titans 177 for 7 (Miller 46(6.71%), Shami 3/25(↓6.45%)) by 3 wickets.

 

After being put into bat first, Gujarat lost Wriddhiman Saha in the first over. Sai Sudharsan also got out in the powerplay as the score was 32 for 2 in 5 overs. Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya(5.48%) then took the attack to the bowling team with a partnership of 59 runs in 33 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal(↓5.21%) removed Pandya for 28(19) to hamper GT’s progress. The next partnership between Gill and David Miller(6.71%) was 30 off 29.

The right-hander then got out after playing another top knock of 45 off 34. David Miller(6.71%) and Abhinav Manohar then formed an important 45-run partnership in just 22 balls. Manohar blasted 27 off 13, while Miller smashed 46 off 30. The scorecard read 177 for 7 at the end of the first innings.

In response, Rajasthan’s openers were back in the dugout at a score of just 4. Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson(↑29.90%) threw caution to the wind and added 43 runs for the 3rd wicket. Then, Padikkal and Riyan Parag fell in the space of 2 overs. The chasing side was way behind in the contest after getting reduced to 55 for 4 in 10.3 overs. Sanju Samson(↑29.90%) kept his team in the game by playing a superb innings of 60 runs in just 32 balls. Noor Ahmad got Samson out on the last ball of the 15th over. At that stage, the target was 64 off 5 overs.

Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel had 47 runs in only 20 deliveries to take the game deep. Dhruv got out for a 10-ball 18, and the Royals needed 17 off 10. Ravichandran Ashwin(↓6.53%) walked out to bat and went 4,6 and out in his 3-ball innings. (5.48%) threw the ball to Noor Ahmad to defend 7 off the last over. Shimron Hetmyer started the over with a couple and then smashed a maximum to finish the game. The left-hander played a match-winning knock of 56* off 26.

Ishan Kishan’s(↑37.06%) price significantly shot up by ₹54.51. Sanju Samson’s(↑29.90%) stocks also raised by ₹46.19. In addition, there have been an increase in Suryakumar Yadav’s(↑9.82%) price by ₹13.89. On the other hand, Lockie Ferguson’s (↓29.36%) price fell by ₹17.23. Sunil Narine(↓22.43%) and Rashid Khan’s(↓18.95%) stocks also collapsed by ₹40.32 and ₹40.31, respectively.
