RCB vs DC IPL 2023

Bangalore defeated Delhi in the first match of the day. It was RCB’s 2nd win of the season while DC suffered 5th straight loss. In the second game, Punjab edged Lucknow in a last-over finish. The win made PBKS get to the 3rd position in the points table. Let’s get into this blog to see the match details and Sportiqo’s market changes.

Match 20: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Delhi Capitals

Royal Challengers Bangalore 174 for 6 (Kohli 50(↑5.35%), Vijaykumar 3/20) beat Delhi Capitals 151 for 9 (Pandey 50, Kuldeep 2/23(11.76%)) by 23 runs.

Delhi elected to bat first after winning the toss. Bangalore started their innings with a 42-run opening partnership. Faf du Plessis got out after scoring 22 off 16, but Virat Kohli(↑5.35%) carried on. He brought up his third half-century of the season before departing for his 34-ball innings. At one stage, RCB were 117 for 2. But they slipped to 132 for 6 in just 11 balls. Shahbaz Ahmed (20 off 12) and Anuj Rawat (15 off 22) helped their team to post 174 for 6 on the board.

The chase started in a catastrophic manner for the Capitals as they lost 3 wickets for just 2 runs. David Warner and Abishek Porel also didn’t hang on for long, and the scorecard read 53 for 5 after 8.5 overs. Manish Pandey was the only notable performer in Delhi’s batting order with a score of 50 off 38. Bangalore won the match by 23 runs. Vijaykumar Vyshak returned with the figures of 4 overs, 3 for 20 on his IPL debut. Mohammad Siraj(6.51%) also took a couple of wickets for the Challengers.

Match 21: Lucknow Super Giants vs. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings 161 for 8 (Raza 57 & 1/19, Curran 3/31(↓2.47%)) beat Lucknow Super Giants 159 for 8 (Rahul 74(6.83%), Bishnoi 2/18(11.65%)) by 2 wickets.

In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan(↓5.46%), Sam Curran(↓2.47%) was leading the Punjab side. He won the toss and opted to chase. Lucknow had a fine powerplay as they picked up 49 runs without losing a wicket. But the spinners tightened the screws, and the run rate dropped down. The next 8 overs brought just 62 runs and 4 wickets. KL Rahul(6.83%) was the lone warrior for Lucknow with an absorbing knock of 74(56). Sam Curran(↓2.47%) and Arshdeep Singh(↓6.84%) bowled brilliantly at the death to restrict LSG to 159 for 8. Sam Curran(↓2.47%) took 3 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada(↓9.20%) picked 2.

Yudhvir Singh picked a couple of early wickets to put PBKS under pressure in the chase. Matthew Short played another useful innings of 34(22) before departing. At the end of the 11th over, Punjab were 75 for 4. There wasn’t much support at the other end, but Sikandar Raza kept the innings together. When the 6th wicket fell, the equation was 38 off 25. Things were looking easy for Punjab before Ravi Bishnoi(11.65%) got Sikandar Raza out for 57(41). The leg-spinner gave just 3 runs in the 18th over to leave 20 for the final 2 overs.

Mark Wood gave 13 off the penultimate over but picked a wicket as well. The equation now was 7 runs needed off 6 balls with 2 wickets in hand. Shahrukh Khan took two doubles and then smashed a boundary to seal the deal. His match-winning cameo of 23* off 10 carried Punjab over the line. For Lucknow, Yudhvir Singh, Mark Wood, and Ravi Bishnoi(11.65%) took 3 wickets each.
