Bangalore humbled Punjab in the first match of the day. The former team got to the 5th position on the points table while the latter team slipped to 7th. The chase started with a four first ball, followed by a wicket next ball. Surprisingly, Wanindu Hasaranga was introduced in the 3rd over, and he got Matthew Short out first ball. Mohammad Siraj(68.96%) got Livingstone out in his second over. Harpreet Singh was soon run out, and Punjab were in serious trouble at 43 for 4. Sam Curran(↓10.48%) also ran himself out as PBKS were 77 for 5 at the halfway stage. Prabhsimran Singh was looking in fine touch before Wayne Parnell rattled his stumps to end his spirited innings of 46(30).

Hasaranga got the wicket of Shahrukh Khan to get Punjab 7 down. The target for the last 5 overs was 50 runs. The next 2 overs went for 20 as Virat Kohli(↑10.74%) dropped Jitesh Sharma at 38. Mohammad Siraj(68.96%) gave just 4 runs in his final over while picking 2 more wickets. He finished with the figures of 4 for 21 in 4 overs. Jitesh Sharma’s fighting innings of 41 off 27 also ended in the next over as Bangalore won the game by 24 runs.

 

Match 28: Delhi Capitals vs. Kolkata Knight Riders

 

Delhi Capitals 128 for 6 (Warner 57(34.88%), Axar 19 & 2/13(↑17.05%)) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 127 all out (Roy 43, Chakravarthy 2/16(26.69%)) by 4 wickets.

 

Delhi won the toss and asked Kolkata to bat first. Their bowlers took the opportunity with both hands and took 3 wickets inside the powerplay. Jason Roy was showing great composure, but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Roy also fell for 43(39), and Delhi were 96 for 9 in the 16th over. Andre Russell(20.64%) took the innings deep, but the score was just 108 after 19 overs. He smashed 3 sixes in the last over to take the score to 127. Russell hit 38* off 31 while Nortje, Ishant, Axar, and Kuldeep took 2 wickets each.

The chase started with an opening partnership of 38 runs before Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for 13. Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt got out after scoring just 2 and 5, respectively. David Warner(34.88%) was unfazed by the happenings at the other end as he brought up a brilliant half-century. When he departed for 57(41), the equation was 35 off 41.

But the upcoming batters struggled, and Delhi were 6 down after 18 overs. They required 12 off 12, and the penultimate over brought just 5. Axar Patel’s(↑17.05%) unbeaten 19-run innings saw Delhi through to a nervous win. Chakaravarthy, Ankul, and Nitish took 2 wickets each.

On the contrary, Sam Curran’s(↓10.48%) stocks went south by ₹37.69. Following him, Prithvi Shaw’s(↓18.19%) and Sunil Narine’s(↓29.88%) prices decreased by ₹16.62 and ₹12.32, respectively.
