According to the World Cup 2023 schedule, these 10 teams will face each other in the round-robin format. It means that each team will play every other team once. So, all 10 teams will play 9 games each. Therefore, the total number of matches in the group stage will be:

9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1=45

After the completion of the group phase, the top 4 teams on the points table will get through to the semi-finals. The winners of those semi-finals will lock horns in the World Cup 2023 final. Hence, the knockout stage of the tournament will contain 3 matches.
