It’s turning from bad to worse for the bowlers in Pindi Cricket Stadium. Saturday saw the highest aggregate of runs being scored in a T20 match. 515 runs were scored in the match between Quetta and Multan. Let’s see the match happenings and players’ price changes:

Match 28: Quetta Gladiator vs. Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans 262 for 3 (Usman 120, Abbas 5/47) beat Quetta Gladiators 253 by 8 (Iftikhar 53(↑61%), Guptill 37(↑16%)) by 9 runs.

Quetta Gladiators asked Multan Sultans to bat first after winning the toss. But they soon started to regret the decision as Usman Khan made a mockery of their bowling attack. He smashed the fastest century in the PSL off just 36 balls. His first fifty came in 22 deliveries, while the second took only 14 balls. He eventually departed for 120(43) while hitting 12 fours and 9 sixes.

When Usman was dismissed, the Sultans were 157 for 1 in only 10 overs. Mohammed Rizwan(↑12%) scored 55 off 29 before Tim David(↑30%) hammered 43* off 25. Kieron Pollard, too, chipped in with 24*(13) as the Gladiators were asked to chase down a massive target of 263 runs.

To get to this total, Quetta needed Jason Roy to flourish. But he was dismissed for just 6 runs. Martin Guptill(↑16%) scored 37 off 14, and Omair Yousuf got 67 off 36 to keep the game alive. Iftikhar Ahmed(↑61%) scored 55 off 31 but he started his innings slowly, which made things even tougher. When Umar Akmal was dismissed for 28(20), it ended all the hopes of the chasing side.

Multan won the match by just 9 runs, and Quetta are now out of the tournament. Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi are the 4 teams who will feature in the playoffs.

Turning Point of the Match

The Gladiators were in the hunt after scoring 60 off just 4.2 overs. But the next couple of wickets fell for just 8 runs and it tilted the contest back in Sultans’ favour.
