Match 15: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants 213 for 9 (Stoinis 65, Pooran 62) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 212 for 2 (du Plessis 79(↑20.08%), Siraj 3/22(22.52%)) by 1 wicket.

Lucknow invited Bangalore to bat first after winning the toss. The decision didn’t seem to produce good results for them, as Virat Kohli(↑9.36%) took the attack to the bowlers. He played top-quality innings of 61 runs in just 44 balls. After his departure, Glenn Maxwell(13.18%) came out to partner with Faf du Plessis(↑20.08%). The duo initially struggled to get the momentum as RCB were 104 for 1 after 13 overs.

The partnership teed off as they collected 13 runs from the 14th over. From that point, there was only destruction for Lucknow as Faf and Maxi smashed 108 runs in the last 8 overs. The 115-run partnership was broken on the second-last ball of the innings. Faf du Plessis(↑20.08%) got 79* off 46, while Glenn Maxwell(13.18%) scored 59 off 29. Bangalore scored 212 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 20 overs.

Mohammad Siraj(22.52%) drew first blood for Bangalore in the opening over. He got the wicket of in-form Kyle Mayers. Wayne Parnell started his IPL 2023 with a double-wicket maiden. LSG’s powerplay ended with the scorecard reading 37 for 3. Marcus Stoinis went through the gears as Lucknow picked 63 runs off the next 5 overs. Stoinis played a terrific knock of 65(30) before getting dismissed. KL Rahul(↓6.78%) also departed 3 balls later, and Nicholas Pooran was the next man in. His performance with the bat totally changed the complexion of the game.

Pooran hammered 62 off just 19 to make things easy for his side. When he got out, Lucknow required 24 off the last 3 overs. Ayush Badoni 30(24) brought LSG extremely close to victory. But he also lost his wicket before finishing the game. Harshal Patel(↓21.98%) was asked to defend 5 runs in the last over. The first 5 balls of that over went for just 4 runs, and Lucknow were 9 down. Ayush Badoni missed the final ball of the game, but Dinesh Karthik fumbled behind the stumps. He conceded a bye, and it cost Bangalore the game and 2 points.
