Rajasthan and Delhi locked horns in the first match of the day. The Royals successfully defended their total of 199 runs and defeated the Capitals by 57 runs. Rajasthan Royals 199 for 4 (Butler 79(9.59%), Chahal 3/27(11.85%)) beat Delhi Capitals 142 for 9 (Warner 65, Lalit 38) by 57 runs.

 

Delhi decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings by hitting 5 fours in the opening over. The southpaw kept dominating the opposition’s bowlers and scored 60 runs in just 31 balls. He got out when the score was 98 and soon Rajasthan were reduced to 126 for 3. Jos Buttler(9.59%) then took control of the innings and kept the run rate up. He departed after scoring 79 off 51. Shimron Hetmyer’s 39* off 21 powered his team to 199 for 4 in 20 overs.

The chase started with a double-wicket maiden from Trent Boult. Rilee Rossouw also departed in the 6th over as Delhi found themselves at 36 for 3. David Warner and Lalit Yadav stitched a 64-run partnership to keep the hopes alive. Trent Boult then dismissed Yadav for 38(24) and Delhi required 100 more runs in the final 7 overs.

None of the upcoming batters could enter the double figures as the Capitals suffered a collapse. David Warner’s slow innings of 65(55) also ended in the 19th over. They finished their innings at 142 for 9, giving a 57-run win to Rajasthan. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal(11.85%) picked 3 wickets apiece while Ravichandran Ashwin(5.04%) bagged 2.

 

Match 12: Mumbai Indians vs. Chennai Super Kings

 

Chennai Super Giants 159 for 3 (Rahane 61, Jadeja 3/20(17.54%)) beat Mumbai Indians 157 for 8 (Ishan 32(1.72%), David 31) by 7 wickets.

 

Mumbai were invited to bat first by MS Dhoni. Their innings started with a 38-run opening stand that came in 4 overs. Rohit Sharma walked back to the dugout after scoring 21(13). His opening partner Ishan Kishan(1.72%) was the second man to fall for 32(21). His departure brought a flurry of wickets. From 64 for 1, Mumbai were reduced to 113 for 7. Tim David and Hrithik Shokeen made 31(22) and 18(13), respectively, to help MI reach 157 for 8 in 20 overs.

In reply, Devon Conway got out for a 4-ball duck in the first over. Ajinkya Rahane walked out to bat and played a magical innings. He whacked 61 off just 27 with the help of 7 fours and 3 maximums. His breezy knock reduced the target to 76 runs in 12 overs when he got out. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a sensible innings of 40*(36) to take his side home. Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu also helped the cause with the knocks of 28(26) and 20*(16), respectively. Chennai got to a 7-wicket win with 11 balls left in the innings. Mumbai are yet to get off the mark on the points table.

Market Update

 

Jos Buttler’s(9.59%) price went north by ₹21.64. Ravindra Jadeja’s(17.54%) and Yuzvendra Chahal’s(11.85%) stocks also increased by ₹24.37 and ₹14.16, respectively. While the stocks of Axar Patel(↓17.04%) dropped by ₹28.21. Prithvi Shaw(↓13.44%) also had his price dropped by ₹19.79. Along with that, Jason Holder’s(↓10.20%) price also went down by ₹14.2.
